Alpaca wool
Alpaca Farm in Mitzpe Ramon – A Magical Nature Experience in the Desert
Since 1987, we’ve been raising our alpacas for their exceptional wool.
The high-altitude climate of the Negev Highlands lets us naturally enhance the fiber and bring it to its highest quality.
On our farm, we produce knitting wool from start to finish — from shearing to the final product.
The fine, spacial structure of alpaca fiber gives it exceptional softness, light weight, and excellent thermal insulation — making it one of the most luxurious and comfortable natural fibers in the world.
These qualities also make alpaca wool especially skin-friendly: it’s moisture-wicking, hypoallergenic, and naturally non-fading.
Our farm is one of the only places where you can witness the entire production process under one roof — from alpaca to sweater.
Alpaca Shearing Season
Every spring, as the days begin to warm, it’s time for the alpaca “haircut” on the farm’s calendar.
It’s a special and meaningful moment in farm life, when the alpacas shed their heavy fleece and enjoy a fresh, breezy feeling for the hot summer ahead. Kind of like getting a great haircut and walking out feeling lighter.
Shearing is done gently and with advanced equipment. It doesn’t hurt the alpacas at all – in fact, it’s essential for their health and comfort.
The younger alpacas might be a bit wary of the buzzing sound – just like a child at their first trip to the barbershop – while the older ones approach calmly, as if saying: “I’m next, right?”
The harvested wool is then taken to our on-site wool workshop, where it’s turned into soft, luxurious yarn and warm, cozy products, just in time for the next winter season.

From Fleece to Fiber – Workshop & Store
At our on-site Wool Workshop, the entire production process takes place under one roof. We are proud to be the only boutique alpaca farm outside the Americas where alpacas are raised and finished wool products are created in one place.
Visitors can watch the shearing process during the season or learn about each stage of production alongside the original machines used on the farm.
Our alpaca knitting wool comes in four natural base colors black, brown, gray, and white and in up to 32 natural shades. No dyes are used. Because the wool is completely natural and each alpaca is unique, every batch is slightly different in tone, which is part of its beauty.
